2:00 - RECOGNITION
The Mayor will present Certificates of Commendation on behalf of her Excellency the Governor General to Captain Harry Trueman and Mr. George Harding in recognition of their heroic actions on November 9, 1998, when they rescued several sailors from the freighter "Iolcos Grace".
2:15 - PROCLAMATION
The Mayor will proclaim International Day to Eliminate Racial Discrimination. Lorna McCreath, Director, Equal Employment Opportunity Program, will be present to speak about the City's commitment and efforts to foster cultural and racial harmony among its diverse communities.

Council approved the appointment of Larry Beasley as Director of Planning for the purposes of exercising authority under various City By-laws, the Vancouver Charter and for administration of the Heritage Conservation Act.
