DISCUSSION
Currently, there is an office space shortage at the Manitoba Works Yards for the Sewers Operation Foremen and the Human Resources staff that serve Engineering Operations. The existing Sewers Operations office area is overcrowded and can no longer facilitate the foremen in a productive manner. The Human Resources staff are also in need of office space as their temporary location at Sunset Nursery will no longer be available after July 31, 1999. Sewers Operations and Human Resources have a combined need of 13 additional office spaces. Waterworks Operation had a similar problem several years ago, as office space became limited, and brought in a portable trailer as the solution.
It is recommended that a permanent portable trailer be purchased and located at the Manitoba Works Yard to house the Sewers Operation Foreman and the Human Resources staff that serve Engineering Operations, at a cost of $157,000 including servicing. Funding of this purchase can be provided by a loan from the Capital Financing Fund to be repaid over 5 years by Human Resources, the Sewers Operation Branch, and the Engineering Operation Branches that are served by the Human Resources staff. Funding for the repayment will be provided from existing department budget.
