CITY OF VANCOUVER
CITY CLERK'S OFFICEM E M O R A N D U M
DATE: February 17, 1999
FILE: 5526
TO: Standing Committee on Transportation and Traffic
FROM: Gail Johnson, Administrative Assistant
SUBJECT: Correction of Street Name from Toderick Street to Todrick Street
Council, on January 5, 1999, considered an Administrative Report, dated December 11, 1998, in which the Street Naming Committee put forward a recommendation that the name of Toderick Street be corrected to Todrick Street to agree with the spelling of the family for which it is named.
Also before Council was a letter from Mr. & Mrs. F. Cantafio, residents of Toderick Street, who opposed the name change. They requested that Council postpone its decision, giving them the opportunity to petition all residents of Toderick Street.
Council agreed to postpone consideration of the recommendations contained in the Administrative Report until residents of the street had been contacted about the proposed street name change, and their opinions reported back to Council.
Accordingly, the City Clerk's Office has now received correspondence from Mr. & Mrs. Cantafio, forwarding a petition signed by residents of Toderick Street, which indicates a clear majority oppose the correction of the street name.
The following documents are attached for the Committee's consideration:
… Administrative Report, dated December 11, 1998
… Letter, dated January 25, 1999, from Frank and Mary Cantafio, attaching a petition signed by residents of Toderick Street opposing the street name change.
