SUBJECT:	101 West Hastings Street Extension of Building Permit No. BU404718

RECOMMENDATION

THAT Vancouver City Council approve an extension of Building Permit No. BU404718 until July 10, 1999.

COMMENTS

The General Manager of Community Services RECOMMENDS approval of the foregoing.

POLICY

Article 1.11.5.1 of the Building By-law prohibits the City Building Inspector from granting more than one extension to a Building Permit. Any further extensions can only be approved by City Council.

DISCUSSION

The above permit was issued on May 30, 1997 for renovations and additions to the existing eight-storey former Woodward’s building to provide for a mixed-use complex containing retail/commercial uses and 417 market dwelling units and two sleeping units.

The permit was previously extended and expires on January 10, 1999.

There has been no change to the zoning for the property (DD). Related Development Permit Application No. DE217797 was submitted on April 28, 1995 and is still under review. The Planning Department has no objection to this extension.
