SUBJECT:	1122 - 1124 Robson Street - Extension of Building Permit Nos. BU407648 (demolition) and BU405866 (new construction)

RECOMMENDATION

THAT City Council approve extensions of Building Permit Nos. BU407648 and BU405866 until April 30, 1999.

GENERAL MANAGER’S COMMENTS

The General Manager of Community Services RECOMMENDS approval of the foregoing.

POLICY

Article 1.11.5.1 of the Building By-law prohibits the City Building Inspector from granting more than one extension to a Building Permit. Any further extensions can only be approved by City Council.

DISCUSSION

The above permits are for the demolition of an existing heritage retail building, down to, but not including the existing foundation walls and the construction of a new one-storey plus mezzanine commercial building on existing and new footings and foundations to provide a retail store.

The permits were previously extended and expire on October 31, 1998.

There has been no change to the zoning for the property (DD). Related Development Permit No. DE401688 is valid as long as the Building Permits are active. The Planning Department has no objection to the extension.
