RECOMMENDATION

THAT Council approve the appointment of Mr. Ian Adam, Assistant City Engineer, Transportation, as an alternate to the City Engineer position on the Development Permit Board.

COUNCIL POLICY

The By-law creating the Development Permit Board provides that:

"7.Any member of the Board with the approval of Council is hereby authorized to deputize a person to act on his behalf at any meeting of the Board."

PURPOSE

The purpose of this report is to request that Council approve the appointment of Mr. Ian Adam, Assistant City Engineer, Transportation, as an alternate to the City Engineer position on the Development Permit Board.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION

The Development Permit Board has three regular members: the Director of Planning, the City Engineer, and the Director of Social Planning. Each member has an alternate to cover for those meetings which they are not able to attend.

At present, the full-time members and alternates are as follows:

Director of Planning position - Larry Beasley

Alternate: Ms. Forbes-Roberts

City Engineer position- Dave Rudberg

Alternates: Brent MacGregor and Tom Timm

Director of Social Planning position - Judy Rogers

Alternate: Burke Taylor

CONCLUSION

Effective November 24, 1997, Tom Timm will be assuming the position of City Building Inspector in Permits and Licenses. It is recommended that Ian Adam be appointed as the second alternate to the City Engineer, to replace Tom Timm.
