ADMINISTRATIVE REPORT Date: September 19, 1997
C.C. File No. 3104
TO: Vancouver City Council
SUBJECT:Development Permit Board Appointment -
Interim Alternate
RECOMMENDATION
THAT Council approve the appointment of Ken Dobell, City Manager, as an interim alternate to Judy Rogers, Director of Social Planning representative, at the Development Permit Board meeting on October 6, 1997.
COUNCIL POLICY
The By-law creating the Development Permit Board provides that:
"7.Any member of the Board with the approval of Council is hereby authorized to deputize a person to act on his behalf at any meeting of the Board."
PURPOSE
The purpose of this report is to recommend Councils approval of the appointment of an alternate Social Planning representative for the October 6, 1997 meeting of the Development Permit Board.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
The Development Permit Board has three regular members: the Director of Planning, the General Manager of Engineering Services, and the Director of Social Planning. Each member has an alternate to cover off those meetings which they are not able to attend.
In June of 1995, Judy Rogers, Deputy City Manager, was appointed as the Director of Social Planning member on the Development Permit Board, and Burke Taylor, Cultural Planner, was appointed as the alternate to the Director of Social Planning.
For the October 6, 1997 meeting of the Development Permit Board, both Judy Rogers and Burke Taylor are not able to attend. Ken Dobell has agreed to serve as the Director of Social Planning member for this meeting, and it is recommended that this appointment be approved by Council.
