   SUBJECT:  Extension of Building Permit No. BP219794
             1678 West 7th Avenue


   RECOMMENDATION


        THAT  City Council approve  an extension of  Building Permit
        No. BP219794 until November 3, 1995.


   GENERAL MANAGER'S COMMENTS

        The  General  Manager   of  Community  Services   RECOMMENDS
        approval of the foregoing.


   COUNCIL POLICY

   Section   324A  of  the  Vancouver  charter  enables  Council  by
   resolution or  By-law to  declare any  building, in  or upon  any
   private  or public lands  a nuisance  or dangerous to  the public
   safety or  health, and may, by  such By-law or  resolution, order
   that the same shall be  removed/pulled down by the owner,  agent,
   lessee or occupier thereof.



   DISCUSSION

   The proposed construction is a four-storey residential/commercial
   building with one artist's studio dwelling unit and ten  dwelling
   units on the second and third storeys.

   The above  permit was previously extended  and expired on  May 3,
   1995, however,  because the request  for extension  was submitted
   prior to expiry, I am prepared to process this request.

   I  have  been advised  by  the Planning  Department  that related
   Development Permit No. DP215493 has been extended to May 3, 1996.
