GENERAL MANAGER'S COMMENTS

PURPOSE

This report informs Council of the President's Service Award received by the City Electrician, Ark Tsisserev, P. Eng., from the Association of Professional Engineers &
Geoscientists of B.C. (APEGBC) at the 2000 Annual Conference.

BACKGROUND

Each year at its annual conference, the APEGBC honours excellence in the engineering community. This year, at the 2000 conference held in Whistler, Arkady (Ark) Tsisserev, P. Eng received the Professional Service Award for dedicated volunteer service to APEGBC and other learned organizations.

Aside from the video presentation created to introduce Ark's achievements, the Association included the following write-up in the awards program:

A member of various national and provincial electrical associations, committees, and review and appeal boards, Mr. Tsisserev counts among his involvements the Tri-National Committee to harmonize electrical codes for Canada, the US and Mexico. He received a Merit Award from the Canadian Standards Association in 1994 in recognition of his membership in more than 50 technical subcommittees on CSA electrical product standards.

His dedicated support of the high safety standards of the Canadian national standards system makes Arkady Tsisserev a deserving recipient of APEGBC's Professional Service Award."

The City is indeed priveledged to have staff of such expertise and extreme dedication as Ark Tsisserev.
