SUBJECT:	Extension of Building Permit No. BU402238 - 75 East Pender Street

RECOMMENDATION

THAT City Council approve a further extension of Building Permit No. BU402238 until August 27, 1999.

GENERAL MANAGER’S COMMENTS

The General Manager of Community Services RECOMMENDS approval of the foregoing.

POLICY

Article 1.11.5.1 of the Building By-law prohibits the City Building Inspector from granting more than one extension to a Building Permit. Any further extensions can only be approved by City Council.

DISCUSSION

The above permit is for the construction of a new five-storey building with retail on the main floor, offices on the second through fourth floors and social club on the fifth floor with two levels of underground parking.

Construction was started on this project but has been discontinued for approximately two years. Our Inspection Services confirm that the site is secure.

The permit was previously extended twice by Council and expires on February 27, 1999.

There has been no change to the zoning for this property (HA-1). Related Development Permit No. DE400001 has been extended to August 27, 1999.
