CITY MANAGERS COMMENTS
The City Manager RECOMMENDS approval of the foregoing.
COUNCIL POLICY

PURPOSE
This report requests approval for Councillor Lynne Kennedy to attend Captain George Vancouvers Bicentennial Service, in Petersham, Surrey, England, on May 10, 1998.
DISCUSSION
Councillor Kennedy is requesting payment to cover a portion of her costs to attend the 200th Anniversary of the death of Captain George Vancouver. She will be laying a wreath on behalf of the City of Vancouver in place of the Mayor. The request for a representative to attend the service came to the Mayor from the Hon. Roy MacLaren, High Commissioner in London (copy on file in City Clerks Office).
As Councillor Kennedy will already be attending a conference in London, at her expense, the only air travel charge involved is in changing her return flight, in order to be able to attend the service in Petersham. She requests approval of the following expenditures related to the bicentennial service:
Charge to change return flight $ 37.00
Purchase of wreath 125.00
2 nights at hotel in London @ £110/night 528.00
Per diem (3 days @ $65.00) 195.00
TOTAL $885.00
Funds are available in Contingency Reserve.
