   Re:       1997 UBCM Annual Convention



   The City of Vancouver has been asked by the Union of BC Municipalities
   to be a partner in the 1997 UBCM Annual Convention, which this year will
   be held in our City.  The amount requested is $10,000 to be used toward
   the general operation of the convention.  It is traditional for the Host
   City to contribute to this event and I WOULD RECOMMEND, as we did in
   1995, THAT:

             The Vancouver City Council approve a hospitality grant of
             $10,000 toward the 1997 UBCM Convention, source of funds to be
             the Contingency Reserve.
