 SUBJECT:  Extension of Building Permit No. BU400090
           725 - 747 South East Marine Drive



 RECOMMENDATION

      THAT City Council approve an extension of Building Permit No.
      BU400090 until July 31, 1997.

 GENERAL MANAGER'S COMMENTS

      The General Manager of Community Services RECOMMENDS approval of the
      foregoing.

 COUNCIL POLICY

 Article 1.11.5.1 of the Building By-law prohibits the City Building
 Inspector from granting more than one extension to a Building Permit.  Any
 further extensions can only be approved by City Council.

 DISCUSSION

 The proposed construction is for interior and exterior alterations, a
 change of use of 2,230 square feet from financial institution to retail

 and to provide tenant improvements for the relocation of the existing beer
 and wine store in this existing building.

 The above permit was previously extended twice and expired on January 31,
 1997.  However, because the request for extension was submitted prior to
 expiry, I am prepared to process this request.

 There is no related Development Permit.
