COUNCIL POLICY The authority for closing and disposing of streets and lanes is set out in the Vancouver Charter. PURPOSE The purpose of this report is to seek Council authority to close and stop-up and sell a portion of First Avenue between Victoria Drive and Semlin Drive DISCUSSION A request has been received from the owners of Lot 10, except the North 17 feet now road, of Lot "A", Block 143, District Lot 264A, Plans 377 and 1771, (1968 East 1st Avenue) to purchase portion of the 17 foot road widening which was taken from Lot 10 many years ago and which is now in excess of what is required. Present planning calls for an ultimate width of 80 feet for this portion of First Avenue which requires 7 feet on each side of the original 66 feet. Therefore the south 10 feet of the 17 feet taken for road widening can be sold to the abutting owner. CONCLUSION The south 10 feet of the 17 feet originally taken from Lot 10 for the widening of First Avenue is no longer required. Subject to the conditions set out in this report it is recommended that this portion of road be sold to the abutting owner. * * * * *
