SUBJECT: Sprinkling Regulations
RECOMMENDATION
A. THAT the cost of sprinkling permits for new lawns as laid out
in section 6.2 of By-Law 7109 be increased from $30.00 to
$33.00.
B. THAT other minor amendments to By-law 7109 referred to
in this report be approved by Council.
C. That the Director of Legal Services be instructed to
bring forward the approval amendments to this By-law.
COUNCIL POLICY
On May 4th, 1995, Council approved having the Lawn
Sprinkling By-law go into effect automatically each year on
June 1st, without the need for annual approval or
notification from the GVRD.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this report is to update By-law 7109, A
By-law to prohibit the watering of lawns , to reflect
revised Council policy since its inception. In addition,
minor ambiguities are being corrected and a fee is being
increased to reflect inflation.
DISCUSSION
1) By-law 7109 is amended in Section 3 by amending clause
3 (Prohibition) from:
No person shall, between the last Saturday of May and
September 30th in every year

2) By-law 7109 is amended in Section 4 by:
(a) Amending clause 4.1 from:
4.1 Following receipt by the City Clerk in
writing from the Commissioner of the GVRD
that in accordance with the WSRP a reduction
in water use is necessary requiring Stage 11
restrictions under the WSRP and after the
notification prescribed by Section 5, no
person shall sprinkle or allow sprinkling
except at premises..
