 SUBJECT:  Extension of Building Permit No. BU218047
           5698 Aberdeen Street and also 3535 - 3549 Kingsway



 RECOMMENDATION

      THAT City Council approve an extension of Building Permit No.
      BU218047 until November 27, 1997.


 GENERAL MANAGER'S COMMENTS

      The General Manager of Community Services RECOMMENDS approval of the
      foregoing.


 COUNCIL POLICY

 Article 1.11.5.1 of the Building By-law prohibits the City Building
 Inspector from granting more than one extension to a Building Permit.  Any
 further extensions can only be approved by City Council.


 DISCUSSION


 The proposed construction is for a new three-storey mixed use building
 containing retail on a portion of the first floor and residential (18
 dwelling units) on the remainder of the first floor and the second and
 third floors, with underground parking.

 The above permit was previously extended and expires on May 27, 1997.

 The Planning Department advises that related Development Permit No.
 DP214611 is valid as long as this Building Permit is active.
