   SUBJECT:  Extension of Building Permit No. BU402235
             7850 Champlain Crescent



   RECOMMENDATION

        THAT City Council approve an extension of Building Permit
        No. BU402235 until October 24, 1997.

   GENERAL MANAGER'S COMMENTS

        The General Manager of Community Services RECOMMENDS
        approval of the foregoing.

   COUNCIL POLICY

   Article 1.11.5.1 of the Building By-law prohibits the City
   Building Inspector from granting more than one extension to a
   Building Permit.  Any further extensions can only be approved by
   City Council.

   DISCUSSION


   The proposed construction is for interior and exterior
   alterations and the addition of approximately 20,000 square feet
   to this existing Special Needs Residential Facility, Community
   Care - Class B building.

   The above permit was previously extended and expires on April 24,
   1997. 

   The Planning Department advises that related Development Permit
   No. DP216278 has been extended previously and is valid as long as
   this Building Permit is active.
