     SUBJECT:         Extension of Building Permit No. BU401988
                      4087 South West Marine Drive



     RECOMMENDATION

              THAT City Council approve an extension of Building Permit No. BU401988 until July 16, 1997.                                                                                                        

     GENERAL MANAGER'S COMMENTS

              The General Manager RECOMMENDS approval of the foregoing.                                                                      

     COUNCIL POLICY

     Article 1.11.5.1 of the Building By-law prohibits the City Building Inspector from granting more than one
     extension to a Building Permit.  Any further extensions can only be approved by City Council.

     DISCUSSION

     The above permit is for the construction of a new one family dwelling and a detached two-car garage having
     vehicular access from West 41st Avenue.

     The permit was previously extended and expired on January 16, 1997, however, because the request for

     extension was submitted prior to expiry, I am prepared to process this request.

     It should be noted that related Development Permit No. DE400699 will automatically be extended as a result of
     the Building Permit extension.

     As there have been no changes to the RS-1 District Schedule and no significant changes to the Vancouver
     Building By-law, we have no objection to this request.
