Appointment of New Approving Officer

A. THAT Mr. George Fujii, Director of Development Services, be appointed Approving Officer effective September 17, 2014.

B. THAT Council confirm the continued appointments of Mr. John Greer, Assistant Director of Development Services – Development Review Branch, and Ms. Andrea Law, Assistant Director of Development Services – Customer Service, as the City’s two Deputy Approving Officers.

Verbal Briefing: Non-Profit Cultural Office, Assembly and Retail Space – Woodward’s Heritage Building

Brenda Prosken, General Manager – Community Services, provided an overview of the Non-Profit Cultural Office, Assembly and Retail Space Request for Proposal, including the space and the value, history with previous tenant, efforts to re-tenant, RFP process, proposed use and monitoring, and other applicants and timing.

Ms. Prosken, and Margeret Specht, Director – Grants, Awards & Support Programs, responded to questions.

Property Acquisition for Assembly with Adjoining City Lands – 1335 East 1st Avenue

THAT Council authorize the Director of Real Estate Services to proceed with the acquisition of 1335 East 1st Avenue, (Appendix A of the Administrative Report dated August 12, 2014, entitled “Property Acquisition for Assembly with Adjoining City Lands – 1335 East 1st Avenue”) legally described as Parcel Identifier 015-327-345 Lot 19, Except The South 7 Feet Now Road, Block 60 District Lot 264A Plans 383 and 1771 (the “Subject Property”) for consolidation with the adjacent City-owned lands at a purchase price of $1,125,000.

Funding for the acquisition is to be provided from 2014 Capital Budget for the Property Endowment Fund (PEF).
