Verbal Briefing: Update on BC Ambulance Services (BCAS) Service Adjustments and Related Risk to the City
Penny Ballem, City Manager, provided an update on BC Ambulance Services (BCAS) service adjustments and related risk to the City, including pre-hospital care governance, first response to dispatch comparisons between Vancouver and Surrey, VFRS call type data from three months post Resource Allocation Plan (RAP), post RAP citizen impacts (November 2013 – March 2014), case study examples, action by City of Vancouver, and next steps.
Following the presentation, Council members expressed concerns about the change in BC Ambulance Service resource allocation.
Dr. Ballem and John McKearney, General Manager, Fire and Rescue Services, then responded to questions.
Verbal Briefing: Marine Fire Response Service
A. THAT Council approve in principle the restructured fireboat program.
B. THAT Council direct staff to negotiate terms and fees with inner harbour municipalities and Port Metro Vancouver.
Appointments to Civic Agencies and Committees
A. THAT John Calimente be appointed to the Active Transportation Policy Council, term to commence immediately and end December 7, 2014.
B. THAT Anastasia Gaisenok be appointed to the Women’s Advisory Committee, term to commence immediately and end December 7, 2014.
C. THAT Alan Herbert be appointed to the Seniors Advisory Committee, term to commence immediately and end December 7, 2014.
