Property Acquisition for Left Turn Bays on Knight Street at 33rd Avenue – 4894 Knight Street

THAT Council authorize the Director of Real Estate Services to proceed with the acquisition of 174.6 square metres (1,879 sq ft) of land for road purposes from 4894 Knight Street, legally described as: 013-636-120 Lot 11, Except The South 7 Feet and West 7 Feet Now Highways, Block 7 District Lot 705 Plan 2571 at a total cost of $830,950, plus applicable taxes. Funding for the acquisition is available from the 2009 Streets Basic Capital Budget for Arterial Improvements, Knight & 33rd Left Turn Bay.

Surrender of Leases of Premises Located at 215 and 225 West 2nd Avenue

THAT Council approve the surrender of the lease of City-owned premises located at 215 and 225 West 2nd Avenue with an effective date of January 31st, 2011 with a surrender payment of $125,000 (plus applicable taxes) by the City to Wyngold Management Ltd. (the "Tenant") at the surrender date in consideration for the agreement to the early surrender of their leasehold interests in the premises; source of funding to be:

• [ ... ] from the 2008 Capital Budget allocation to the Affordable Housing Fund; and
• [ ... ] payable to the City by BC Housing under the City/Province Social and Supportive Housing Memorandum of Understanding.

AND FURTHER THAT Council authorize the Director of Legal Services to execute the necessary legal documentation for the surrender of lease on terms and conditions to her satisfaction, noting that no legal rights or obligations shall arise or be created until all the necessary legal documentation has been prepared and executed to the satisfaction of the Director of Legal Services.

Appointments to Civic Agencies

A. THAT the following individuals be appointed to the Persons with Disabilities Advisory Committee; term to commence immediately and end on December 4, 2011:

B. THAT Fiona McFarlane be appointed to the Women’s Advisory Committee; term to Commence immediately and end on December 4, 2011.

FURTHER THAT Karey Brooks be appointed as an alternate to the Women’s Advisory Committee, should a vacancy arise prior to December 4, 2011.

C. THAT Milinda Schulz be appointed to the Senior’s Advisory Committee; term to commence immediately and end on December 4, 2011.

D. THAT Linda Collins be appointed to the First Shaughnessy Advisory Design Panel, representing Members-at-Large who are residents of the First Shaughnessy District; term to commence immediately and end on December 4, 2011.

E. THAT Jagdev Dhillon be appointed to the Board of Variance; term to commence on October 5, 2010, and end on July 27, 2012, or until a successor is appointed.
