Verbal Briefing: Labour Relations

Penny Ballem, City Manager, provided an update on labour relations matters with regard to service adjustments within the City.

Property Acquisition for Left Turn Bays on Knight Street at 57th Avenue and approval to release residual of the property for sale

A. THAT the Director of Real Estate Services be authorized to proceed with the acquisition of 1410 East 58th Avenue, legally described as Parcel Identifier: 009-952-748 Lot A of Lot 4 Blocks 21 and 22 District Lot 200 Plan 8728, at a cost not to exceed $670,000. Source of funds to be $550,000 from the 2006-08 Streets Basic Capital Budgets (A4E Property Fund) and $120,000 from the 2009 Streets Basic Capital Budget (A4a Arterial Improvements).

B. THAT the Director of Real Estate Services be authorized to proceed with the demolition of the building at 1410 East 58th Avenue, at an estimated cost of $50,000. Source of funds to be the 2009 Streets Basic Capital Budget (A4a Arterial Improvements).

C. THAT Council authorize staff to solicit offers to purchase the residual of Lot A (“the City Lot”) after the building on the lot has been demolished subject to the approval of the sale and purchase by Council.

No legal rights or obligations shall arise or be created until all legal documentation is fully executed on terms and conditions to the satisfaction of the Directors of Real Estate and Legal Services.
