Appointment of Deputy Chief Licence Inspector
THAT Council appoint Tom Hammel, P.Eng. as the City’s Deputy Chief Licence Inspector.

Property Acquisitions for Future Road Widening on Killarney Street – 5766 Killarney Street
THAT Council authorize the Director of Real Estate Services to proceed with the acquisition of 50.6 square metres (544.5 square feet) of land from 5766 Killarney Street legally described as Parcel Identifier 002-620-065, Lot 4, except the North 33 Feet, Block 11, District Lot 50, Plan 1998, at a total cost of $76,000. Funding for the acquisition to be provided from the 2006 Streets Basic Capital Budget, Property Fund (A4E).
AND THAT no legal right or obligation shall arise or be created until all legal documentation is fully executed on terms and conditions to the satisfaction of the Director of Legal Services.

Property Acquisition for Future Road Widening on Knight Street at 33rd Avenue – 4854 Knight Street and adjoining Lot 9
A. THAT Council authorize the Director of Real Estate Services to proceed with the acquisition of:
I. 4854 Knight Street, legally described as Parcel Identifier 011-723-335, Lot 8, except the West 7 Feet Now Road, Block 7, District Lot 705, Plan 2571 at a cost of $400,000; and
II. 44.1 square metres (475 square feet) of land from the adjacent property to the south legally described as Parcel Identifier 013-636-049, Lot 9, except the West 7 Feet Now Road, Block 7, District Lot 705, Plan 2571 at a cost of $46,000.B. THAT the Director of Real Estate Services be authorized to demolish the dwelling at 4854 Knight Street at an estimated cost of $46,000.
Funding for the acquisitions and the demolition to be provided from program A4A Arterial Improvements in advance of the 2009 Streets Basic Capital Budget with funding provided from the 2009-2011 borrowing authority approved by plebiscite.
No legal rights or obligations shall arise or be created until all legal documentation is fully executed on terms and conditions to the satisfaction of the Director of Legal Services.

Lease Renewal of City-owned Property Situated at 123 East 6th Avenue to the Church of God in Vancouver
THAT Council approve a lease renewal to the Church of God in Vancouver for land and premises situated at 123 East 6th Avenue legally described as Lot C (Explanatory Plan 8505), Block 30, District Lot 200 A, Plan 197 on the following terms and conditions:
Term: The renewal term of the lease shall be five (5) years commencing December 1, 2008.
Rent: The rent for the renewal term shall be [ … ].
Use: The premises are to be used for Church assembly purposes.
Cancellation: The Landlord may terminate the lease or any renewal upon providing the Tenant with one (1) year written notice of cancellation.
No legal rights nor obligations shall arise or be created until all legal documentation is fully executed on terms and conditions to the satisfaction of the Director of Legal Services.

Park Acquisition for Memorial South Park: 6090 Prince Albert Street
A. THAT the Director of Real Estate Services be authorized to proceed with the acquisition of 6090 Prince Albert Street, legally described as Parcel Identifier: 011-262-168 Lot A of 9 and 10 South Part of District Lot 664 Plan 4987, at a cost of $503,000, source of funding to be the Park Board’s 2006 Land Acquisition Capital Account.
B. THAT, upon gaining vacant possession, the Director of Real Estate Services be authorized to proceed with the demolition of the building at 6090 Prince Albert Street, at an estimated cost of $25,000, source of funding to be the Park Board’s 2006 Land Acquisition Capital Account.

Verbal Briefing – Labour Relations (Vancouver Firefighters Union – Arbitration Award)
Kevin Ramsey, General Manager, Human Resources, provided a verbal briefing outlining the arbitrated settlement award between the City of Vancouver and the Vancouver Firefighters Union. Mr. Ramsey, along with Andrew Naklicki, Deputy General Manager, Human Resources, responded to questions concerning the arbitration award.
