SUBJECT: 2005 GVRD Appointments
It is customary at this time of year for the GVRD to request member municipalities to confirm the appointment of municipal directors and alternate directors to the GVRD Board, and the votes allocated to each. Section 784 of the Local Government Act requires council to appoint municipal directors at pleasure and notes the term of a municipal director begins when the person takes the oath of office and continues until the earliest of
· another director taking office in the original directors place;
· the director ceasing to be a member of the council before the next general local election, and
· December 31 in the year of a general local election.
Therefore, I RECOMMEND Council approve the following appointments for the 2005 term.
