RTS No. 3115
CC File No. 5807Council: December 10, 2002
TO:
Vancouver City Council
FROM:
Director of Real Estate Services
SUBJECT:
Establishment of a Portion of City-owned Land for Lane - 8356 Victoria Drive
RECOMMENDATION
THAT Council approve the establishment of the East 10 feet of City owned Lot 4, Except the West 7 Feet, Now Road, Block M, District Lot 328, Plan 2041 for lane purposes (Parcel Identifier: 014-086-263).
The Formal Resolution is submitted concurrently to be passed by Council.
GENERAL MANAGER'S COMMENTS
The General Manager of Corporate Services RECOMMENDS approval of the foregoing.
COUNCIL POLICY
The authority for establishing streets and lanes is set out in Section 291 of the Vancouver Charter.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this report is to request Council approval to establish a portion of City-owned property at 8356 Victoria Drive for lane purposes (Appendix A).
BACKGROUND
The subject lot was acquired by the City in 1997. The property was purchased by the Property Endowment Fund for the purpose of a land assembly with the adjoining City-owned lots.
PRESENT SITUATION
The lot is approximately 95 feet wide by 211 feet in depth and is zoned RS-1B. This is the only lot in the block which is deeper than the rest. By establishing the approximately easterly 10 feet for lane purposes, the lane running north/south in the block would become the standard 20 foot width. The lane will not be constructed at this time.
CONCLUSION
The Director of Real Estate Services is in favour of the establishment of this 10 foot portion for lane purposes, and the General Manager of Engineering Services supports the establishment.
