RECOMMENDATION

1. Vancouver Family Court/Youth Justice Committee Conference Funding

At its meeting on October 7, 1997 Vancouver City Council approved funding in the amount of $3,500.00 for Special Advisory Committee members to attend local conferences.

The Vancouver Family Court/Youth Justice Committee, at its September 25, 2002 meeting, indicated an interest in attending the Vancouver Family Court/Youth Justice Committee Annual Provincial Conference . In light of changes taking place in anticipation of the Youth Justice Act, this conference gives the Committee an opportunity to discuss concerns and determine strategies. The conference listed below would be particularly useful in aiding members in the area of reviewing Federal and Provincial legislation and policy.

Victoria City Hall, October 25-27, 2002
Three members @ $75.00 ea. = $225.00

Therefore, the Committee

RECOMMENDS

THAT Vancouver City Council approve registration fees in the amount of $225.00 to send three members of the Vancouver Family Court /Youth Justice Committee to Family Court/Youth Justice Committee Annual Provincial Conference in Victoria, October 25-27, 2002; source of funding to be the Conference Budget, overseen by the City Clerk.
