Standing Committee on Planning and EnvironmentDear Chair & Members:
RE: Report to Planning & Environment Committee entitled "Re-design of Pacific Boulevard"
The Vancouver Bicycle Advisory Committee, at its meeting on April 17, 2002, passed the following Resolution:
WHEREAS it is important that the treatment of bicycles be consistent throughout the Pacific Boulevard corridor for safety and predictability, and among the Bicycle Advisory Committee's concerns are:
a) conflicts between cyclists and motorists who are entering and leaving parking spaces in a confined area; and
b) conflicts at intersections between right turning vehicles on the main road and through cyclists on the frontage road.THEREFORE the Bicycle Advisory Committee strongly recommends continuous bike lanes on both sides of Pacific Boulevard adjacent to the through traffic lanes.
