A Regular Meeting of the Council of the City of Vancouver was held on Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at 2:00 p.m., in the Council Chamber, Third Floor, City Hall.

VARY ORDER OF AGENDA

The Mayor agreed to vary the order of the Agenda.

MOTIONS

B. Motions

1. Restoration of Transit Services (File: 5551)

MOVED by Councillor McCormick
SECONDED by Councillor Clarke

WHEREAS Vancouver City Council recognizes the hardship that citizens, businesses and visitors to Vancouver are experiencing because of the transit strike; and

WHEREAS Vancouver City Council is not a decision-maker regarding this labour dispute but shares the overwhelming desire of our citizens to have transit service restored;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT Vancouver City Council urge both sides in the labour dispute to expedite a settlement.

(Councillors Bass and Louis opposed)
(Councillor Sullivan absent for the vote)

SECONDED by Councillor Bass

THAT Council agree to hear from the public for one-half hour on the Motion on the Restoration of Transit Services.

SECONDED by Councillor Kennedy

THAT the Public Hearing on Text Amendment: 800 Beatty Street (855 Expo Boulevard) and 875 Expo Boulevard (858 Beatty Street) be rescheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 28, in Committee Room No. 1.

CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY

At the request of some Council members, the Mayor called for another vote on Councillor McCormick's motion and the same result ensued.

The Council recessed at 2:20 p.m., and
reconvened "In Camera" in the Mayor's Office.
