Adoption of Minutes
The minutes of the Standing Committee on Transportation and Traffic meeting of February 20, 2001, were adopted.
1. Taxicab Distance Fare Increases File: 2801
A. THAT taxicab meter fares and time or distance fares in the City be increased to the following rates, respectively (excluding GST):
POINT TO POINT ON METER:
For the first 80 metres or fraction thereof........................................ $2.15
For each additional 80 metres or fraction thereof........................... .10
For each 16 seconds of stopping or waiting time.............................. .10
TIME OR DISTANCE:
For the first hour or fraction thereof............................................... $22.43
or for each 80 metres, whichever is greater........................... .10
For each succeeding quarter hour or fraction thereof.................... 5.61
or for each 80 metres, whichever is greater.......................... .10
B. THAT the Director of Legal Services be instructed to bring forward the necessary by-law amendments to give effect to the increases as of March 15, 2001.

2. Third Auto-oriented Crossing of Burrard Inlet and the
Downtown Transportation Plan File: 5560-1
A. THAT work on the current Downtown Transportation Plan proceed without further consideration at this time of the potential for a new auto-oriented crossing of Burrard Inlet at or near Main Street, as this question will not become relevant until after the implementation time frame of this plan.
B. THAT Council defer consideration of a new Burrard Inlet crossing until, at the earliest, the next review of the long term regional strategic plan.
