Authority to Travel from Vancouver to Ottawa, Ont., to attend the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Sustainable Communities Conference - February 8 - 10, 2001
RECOMMENDATION
THAT Council authorize Councillor Fred Bass to travel to Ottawa, Ontario to attend the FCM’s 1st Annual Sustainable Communities Conference and Trade Show, at an estimated cost of $991.
CITY MANAGER’S COMMENTS
The City Manager submits the recommendation for Council’s CONSIDERATION.
COUNCIL POLICY
Council’s travel policy, approved July 31, 1992, requires Council’s approval for travel within North America.
PURPOSE
This report requests approval for Councillor Bass to travel on City business from Vancouver
to Ottawa from February 7 - 11 to attend the FCM Conference on Sustainable Communities. Councillor Bass will be travelling on from Ottawa as a representative of the B.C. Doctors’ Stop Smoking Program, which has indicated that it will pay half of the cost of the return airfare from Vancouver to Ottawa, resulting in a saving to the City of $378.DISCUSSION
