RECOMMENDATION

THAT City Council approve an extension of Building Permit No. BU414049 for 1177 West Pender Street until July 27, 2001.

GENERAL MANAGER'S COMMENTS

The General Manager of Community Services RECOMMENDS approval of the foregoing.

COUNCIL POLICY

Article 1A.7.5.1 of the Building By-law prohibits the Chief Building Official from granting more than one extension to a Building Permit. Any further extensions can only be approved by Council.

DISCUSSION

Building Permit No. BU414049 was issued January 27, 2000 for the construction of a new 18-storey office/retail building with five levels of underground parking/loading at 1177 West Pender Street.

The permit was previously extended and will expire on January 27, 2001.

There is an existing building on the site which is still occupied.

There has been no change to the zoning for the property (DD - Downtown District). Related Development Permit No. DE403824 is valid as long as this Building Permit is active. The Planning Department has no objection to this extension.
