THAT Council authorize Councillor Lynne Kennedy, as a liaison member of the Urban Safety Commission, to travel to Edmonton to attend an international conference on sexual exploitation and prostitution from May 4-6, 2000.

The City Manager submits the recommendation for Council's CONSIDERATION.
COUNCIL POLICY
Council's travel policy, approved July 31, 1992, requires Council approval for travel outside of British Columbia.
PURPOSE
This report requests approval for Councillor Kennedy to travel to Edmonton to attend the conference "From Answers to Action 2000: Healing Sexual Exploitation & Prostitution". Cllr. Kennedy is a liaison member of the Urban Safety Commission, and sits on the Prostitution Offender Program Advisory Committee.
DISCUSSION
This conference is a unique interdisciplinary global event which will bring togetherindividuals and organizations who are involved in healing sexual exploitation and prostitution. Professionals, community members, and survivors of prostitution and sexual exploitation will join forces to learn, network, find answers and take action. It will bring together people from across the globe and will be a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary collaboration and solution building.
