The purpose of this report is to recommend awarding the contract for
Carnegie Centre 1995 Renovations to the low bidder Arts Class
   Construction Ltd.

   BACKGROUND

On May 5, 1994, City Council approved the Carnegie Centre Renovations
project and approved appointment of Birmingham & Wood Architects as
consultants. Funding of $561,000 was provided from the 1994 Basic
   Capital Budget.

An increased budget of $662,000 was approved by Council on November 1,
1994, to include $101,000 in funds raised by the Carnegie Community
   Centre Association.

The alterations provide for improvements to the learning centre, library
and administrative areas necessary to accommodate the current heavy
usage of the Centre. This project is scheduled to be carried out in the
   summer and fall of 1995.
