PRESENTATIONS Files: 1251/4113

· Councillor Kennedy, presented to Council a Los Angeles street sign, which she received while acting in her capacity as Deputy Mayor, from the City of Los Angeles. Council requested that the City Engineer find an appropriate place to display the sign and suggested that the City reciprocate with a gift of a Vancouver street sign to Los Angeles, with an indication of the distance between the sister cities in kilometers (1600 kms.).

· Councillor Clarke provided a report and powerpoint presentation, on her visits in July 2000 to Amsterdam, The Netherlands and Frankfurt, Germany. While there, she saw their programs for drug addicts in operation and discussed drug strategies and their approaches with treatment professionals, poice and city council representatives. She filed a comprehensive report with Council (on file in the City Clerk's Office) which included her observations on various aspects of the programs and noted the differences in legal jurisdictions between the European cities and the overlapping jurisdictions of Vancouver, the Province of British Columbia and the Government of Canada.
